Susan Davenport-Elsayed

Susan Davenport-Elsayed is a classically trained violinist, and music teacher. She presently holds positions with professional groups such as Linda Gentile & Jersey Shore Pops (concertmistress), the country/pop/rock trio Blondage Rocks, and wedding trio Ceremonious Strings, as well as being a freelance musician. She also performs in her church’s music ministry. Susan is presently the band director, strings conductor and music teacher in the Brigantine (NJ) school district (K-8). Additionally, she teaches violin to many private students.
Susan studied at the Philadelphia College of Performing Arts with Philadelphia Orchestra greats Joseph Lanza and the legendary Robert DePasquale, earning herself a Bachelor’s Degree in Performance with a major in violin. She has been the concertmistress of the Ocean City Pops and member of the Bay Atlantic Symphony Orchestra. Her abilities have afforded her the privilege of performing in concert with Josh Groban, Debbie Reynolds, Andrea Bocelli, Frank Sinatra, Paul Anka, Loretta Lynn, Tony Bennett and Michael Bolton among others.
Susan can adjust her violin playing style and approach to fit any musical situation, from bluegrass and country fiddle-playing to studio-style string-section leading to the necessary classical approach of the symphonic orchestra. Her ability to improvise and play by ear also has made her popular with jazz and rock artists. Her obvious passion for playing allows her to easily connect with any audience.
Susan’s ability to relate with young musicians has brought her to educational positions both as a teacher and conductor. She is the former orchestra conductor at Mainland High School and currently conducts the Atlantic Youth Orchestra. At her present position at Brigantine schools, Susan was given the Teacher of the Year award in 2013.
As a violinist and as a teacher, Susan Davenport Elsayed is the consummate professional.
